How to Cold Plunge at Home
Cold Plunging is being talked about a lot recently! If you haven’t heard about it, it’s when you submerge yourself up to the neck in cold water for about 3-9 minutes. I’ve read that the ideal temperature should range from 59-39 degrees! Now why would any one do this? Cold water therapy is known for a varieties benefits such as: reducing inflammation in the body, increasing dopamine levels, improving sleep and mood, reducing stress, boosting metabolism, mitigating symptoms of depression and anxiety, can boost the immune system and more benefits are being discovered! I mean after hearing that I was pretty much sold. I just feel so strongly that the way we live our lives (fast paced lifestyle and fake food) isn’t doing us any good. I love to find out about different holistic practices that can help us turn things around and feel our best.
Hearing the benefits really interested me and is what pushed me to try it for myself. I was recently diagnosed with PCOS and I’ve been struggling with some of symptoms that come with that. I was hopeful that this might with time relieve a few of my symptoms. I also struggle with anxiety which I’ve heard it’s helpful for as well. I just felt excited to try something new. A holistic approach that takes 3 minutes every morning. I could do that.
I tried it for 4 days straight. Then I took a 2 day break and I noticed a substantial difference in my mood, motivation, patience level, stress tolerance and energy. I think it’s too soon to say it will be able to help my PCOS symptoms. I’ll check back in again in a month! I like to cold plunge first thing in the morning! I wake up, add ice to our ice bath and I jump right in first thing in the morning. I look forward to waking up now. It’s just incredible how great I feel after. There’s definitely an endorphin rush! It’s been two days without doing it and these two mornings I’ve felt sluggish again, not motivated to start my day and honestly grumpy. My kids wake up very bright and early and sometimes it really gets to me that my day has to start so early.
I’ve found that by doing the cold plunge, I’m so much happier in the mornings no matter how early they come running into our room. I’m more motivated and energized which is huge for me as mom. I’ve also noticed myself being more patient with the kids and less reactive. I can think and slow things down in my mind to be able to better respond to the situation. I’m sure it has to do with practicing how to handle stress through dealing with the cold. I’m craving the cold plunge now that it’s been two days without it. I’ll do it every single day even though I hate the cold (Arizona native here) just so I can feel that great.
So is cold plunging worth all the hype?.. YES. Yes it is! I’m going to say that I think every single person could benefit from trying this. It’s not only been a great help to me, you can check out a few of these documentaries:
Goop Lab with Gwyneth Paltrow – the episode with Wim Hof

My husband and I found an affordable way to cold plunge from the convenience of our home! We purchased a portable insulated ice bath from The Pod Company. It’s the most affordable option I’ve seen. We keep it inside because well, Arizona summers. In the fall, winter and spring we might take it outside. That’s what’s so great about it, you can put it anywhere it doesn’t take up much space! Right now they are having a 20% off sale plus if you use my code at checkout it gives you an additional $10 off. My code is SADIE84508. We purchased the PRO and we love it!
I hope this has been helpful in some way! I’m so grateful that we found this company that offers an affordable way to reap the benefits of cold therapy! I’m so happy with our experience.
