WHY I TAKE MY KIDS HIKING
I grew up going hiking as a little girl! My Grandpa was the father figure in my life and he would take my sisters and I along on all of his outdoor adventures. We did things like hiking, backpacking, camping and running long distance – all of which were hard things.
Hiking is definitely not easy. And that is exactly why taking my kids hiking is so important to me.
The world is all about instant gratification – quicker, faster, easier, more convenient. Hiking is not. I know without a doubt these life lessons my children will learn through hiking will shape them and their character.
One of the most important things I want to teach Lucy and Ronny is how to work hard. I believe that if you can work hard you can do absolutely anything you set your mind to do.
If I can teach my children how to work hard then they will be set up for a life full of happiness and success.
So when you see me with my children on the trail and you think, “why in the world would she do that to herself?” It’s because I love my kids and I want the absolute best for them AND because I like it 🙂
