

1. Research the hike beforehand so you know what to expect. All trails is a great app for that! From our experience if the trail is super rocky Lucy will have a harder time with it. It’s easier to trip or fall and because she has to be more cautious the hike takes much longer for us.
2. Don’t have them carry their own backpacks because you’ll end up carrying it! If they want something of their own try a fanny pack! It’s small and doesn’t weigh much. They can keep a few snacks in there and if you end up having to carry it, it’s not going to be difficult.
3. Prepare them for what you’re going to do! Show them pictures and explain to them what they will be doing. It helps them when they know what to expect.
