Haha just kidding.

But really..

1. Pack good snacks!! Trail mix is great! Check here for road trip snack ideas & here for 3 delicious trail mix recipes. I love to make my own trail mix so that I can customize it to what I know Lucy will actually eat! Trail mix has a lot of variety so that she doesn’t get bored of it too quickly and it can be a healthier snack as well.

2. PLAN your stops! This makes it easier on the kids! It gives them a break to be able to stretch their legs and get out of that car seat we all know they hate. Plan ahead for stops so that it’s not frustrating in the moment when all you want to do is just get to your destination. If you’ve already planned for it, it makes it a little easier!

3. Get 1 new toy or activity for the road! It’s exciting to them because it’s something new they have never played and it will keep their attention longer! This trip we bought a new sticker book for Lucy. Check my blog post for our top 5 travel toys for toddlers!

4. Get organized – it’s so hard when you’re rummaging through everything to find that one toy they know you packed but you can’t find any where. And by the end of it the whole car is mess and makes it harder to find anything else later. We love these seat organizers! It keeps all of the kids’ road trip necessities right in front of them. Another helpful tip is keeping snacks organized in a tote bag/basket and storing it on top of the console in between the two front seats.

5. Stop driving close to bed time! If you’re driving close to bed time they’re likely to fall asleep in the car. From our experience, if they fall asleep in the car right before bed time they’re not ready to sleep when we get to our hotel or where ever we’re staying. After a long day no one wants a late bed time for kids.

I hope these simple tips help and that you can feel a little more prepared for your family road trip! You got this!
